Who we are
The Write CV is a brand of Mr Purple, the coaching and career services business of Dr Tom Hitchcock, based in New South Wales and working with clients across Australia. In this policy “we” and “us” means Mr Purple, trading as The Write CV. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us when you use our enquiry form or email us: your name, email address, phone number and your message.
- Order and billing details when you buy from our shop: your name, billing address, email address, phone number and what you ordered. Card and PayPal payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Account details if you create an account with us, such as your login name and order history.
- The CV material you send us for our CV and career services, such as your current CV, cover letters, selection criteria responses, work history, qualifications and any notes you give us. Files you upload at checkout are stored on our website so we can do the work.
- What you tell us in coaching and interview preparation sessions.
- Basic activity information, such as which pages of our site you visited, what you added to your cart and whether you completed a purchase, along with technical details such as your IP address and browser, which our security tools also record.
We do not ask for sensitive information. Please do not include things like health details, your tax file number or your date of birth in your CV material unless a job application specifically requires it.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry.
- To process your order, deliver your downloads and provide the CV writing, coaching or other services you have asked for.
- To contact you about your order or the work we are doing for you.
- To send you occasional news and offers, where you have agreed to that or where you are an existing customer. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link and we act on it.
- To keep our website secure and to understand which pages and products are useful.
- To keep the records the law requires us to keep.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it so that somebody else can market to you.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need in order to run the business:
- Stripe and PayPal, to take payments
- Hostinger, which hosts our website and the information stored on it
- Google, for website analytics and, where we advertise, Google advertising
- Meta (Facebook) and Reddit, where we advertise on those platforms (see “Cookies and advertising” below)
- GoHighLevel, which may be used as our customer record and email system
Some of these store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that they protect it properly. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.
Cookies and advertising
Our website uses cookies to make it work, for example to remember what is in your cart, and to show us which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although the shop may not work properly without them.
This website carries Google Analytics, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and the Reddit Pixel. The Reddit Pixel records page visits (PageVisit), items added to the cart (AddToCart), completed purchases with the order value (Purchase), and enquiries or clicks to contact us (Lead). The Meta Pixel records similar visit and shop activity. These tools help us tell whether our advertising worked and show our advertisements to people who may be interested. Their own privacy policies apply to what they collect.
How long we keep it
We keep order and billing records for as long as the law requires, which is usually seven years. We keep the CV material you send us while we are working on it and for a reasonable time afterwards, so that we can make any changes you ask for. You can ask us to delete it sooner. When we no longer need information we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email tom@mrpurple.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
